RULES & REGULATIONS
Every student admitted to the B.Sc. Nursing course at Nightingale College of Nursing shall have to follow the rules and regulations of the college.
- Students should follow good conduct and behavior both in and outside the campus.
- Ragging is an offense. Ragging is strictly prohibited in the college campus as well as in the hostel. Any student/students involved in any form of ragging activities will be subjected to penal action as per the anti ragging act and immediately expelled from the institution.
- Regular and punctual attendance in all academic activities is mandatory. The college time is 8.30am – 4 pm and in clinics 8 am – 4 pm.
- The student should participate in all curricular activities and co-curricular activities of the college.
- The students should have minimum of 80% attendance in all subjects for theory and practical to be eligible to appear for the university examination as per KUHS regulations. However the students should have 100% attendance for the course completion.
- The student must score 50% internal marks for theory and practical separately in each subject to appear for the university examination.
- It is mandatory that the student should attend three sessional examinations and model examination as per the planned schedule for the internal assessment. If any student is absent for sessional examination he/she should attend the said examination before attending further classes. The progress report should be signed by the parents after each sessional examination when called for the meeting with class coordinator.
- The students should pay the fee at the beginning of each academic year within the stipulated date. Late payment of the fee is not acceptable.
- All students both junior and senior students are required to maintain cordial relationship with each other and cooperate to maintain a disciplined atmosphere in the college campus.
- Students should maintain discipline and etiquette in class room, library, reading room and in the corridors.
- Student should make every effort to take care of the college and hospital property and help in maintaining the same. They should not write or scribble on tables, chairs, walls etc.
- Student should extend courteousness to the teachers and staff of the college.
- The student may report their problems (if any) to the class coordinators and further present to the Principal if found necessary.
- Students are not allowed to receive gift or materials of any sort from the patients of the hospital or their relatives.
- The students are given holidays and vacation leave as per the University guidelines.
- If the student remain absent during academic days, the academic hours should be compensated to meet the attendance for the course completion.
- Unauthorized leave/Absence without Leave by student will be liable to face disciplinary action. Being absent from the academic days without any valid reason and prior permission from the authority is unauthorized leave (Absence without leave).
- If the student is absent due to sickness, information should be given to the coordinator and principal by the parents. If taking leave due to sickness for more than two days the medical certificate is required to be submitted.
- In emergency, if a student is in need to get leave from the college or clinical field, in the middle of the day, he/she should get sanction from the class coordinator and a letter to that effect must be produced from the parent or guardian.
- The student must clear all the dues of the college & hostel before the commencement of the university examination every year. Original certificates will be returned at the time of leaving the college when students clear all the dues and a No-Due-Certificate should be obtained from all the departments of the college.
- Each student is responsible for the proper handling and safe custody of any apparatus or equipment that he/she may be using in different nursing laboratories. Misuse or negligence resulting into damage to any equipment should be replaced by the student. Any willful damage done to the property of the college and hospital will be treated as misconduct and breach of discipline and disciplinary action will be taken against such student.
- Students are not allowed to paste notices within the institutions without prior written permission from the principal.
- Students are forbidden to communicate with any outside authority directly. All such communications must be submitted through the office of the Principal. Any student infringing this rule is liable to undergo disciplinary action.
- For any kind of misbehavior with staff or creating disturbances in class room and in the College premises by a students or group of students, a full range of disciplinary action will be taken i.e. student will be expelled from the Institute and depending upon his/her fault can be under legal action. A student expelled on disciplinary grounds will be never readmitted to this College.
- If any student found in use of liquor or narcotics on duty in College premises/Hostel/Parent hospital/Affiliated hospital, he/she will be suspended from the college for a specific period or expelled from the institution.
- Possession of weapons, explosive and other objectionable material in College/Hostel/Hospital will result in being expelled from the Institution.
- Taking active part in politics will result indisciplinary action.
- Students are required to wear clean and full uniform in college and hospital.
Jewellery, ear rings, painted fingernails, threads, bracelets on hands and nose studs etc. are not permitted. Students must wear white apron in college laboratories. Students must be neat and tidy in their dress, avoiding expensive clothes and exaggerated fashions. The student wearing incomplete or unclean uniform will not be allowed to attend the patients in clinical area. - Students are required to wear their identity cards in college, clinical posting and community posting. Loss of the College ID card /University ID card should be reported immediately to the Class Coordinator and Principal.
- Membership in the recognized Students Nurses’ Association (SNA) is mandatory and every student should be member of the SNA.

വ്യവസ്ഥകളും നിബന്ധനകളും
നൈറ്റിൻഗേൽ നഴ്സിംഗ് കോളേജിൽ ബി എസ് സി നഴ്സിംഗ് കോഴ്സിൽ പ്രവേശനം ലഭിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളും കോളേജിൻറെ നിയമങ്ങളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും പാലിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
- ക്യാമ്പസ്സിനകത്തും പുറത്തും വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ നല്ല പെരുമാറ്റം കാണിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
- റാഗിങ് ഒരു കുറ്റമാണ്. കോളേജ് ക്യാമ്പസ്സിലും ഹോസ്റ്റലിലും കർശനമായി റാഗിങ് നിരോധിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. ഏതെങ്കിലും തരത്തിലുള്ള റാഗിങ് പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ ഏർപ്പെട്ടാൽ ആൻറി റാഗിങ് ആക്ട് പ്രകാരം ശിക്ഷാ നടപടികൾ സ്വീകരിക്കുന്നതാണ്.
- എല്ലാ അധ്യയന പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിലും ഹാജർനില നിർബന്ധമാണ് .കോളേജ് സമയം രാവിലെ30 മുതൽ വൈകുന്നേരം 4 മണി വരെയും ക്ലിനിക്കുകളിൽ രാവിലെ 8 മണി മുതൽ വൈകുന്നേരം 4 മണി വരെയുമാണ്.
- വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ കോളേജിൻറെ എല്ലാ പാഠ്യ – പഠ്യേതര പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിലും പങ്കെടുക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
- KUHS നിർദ്ദേശ പ്രകാരം എല്ലാ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്കും യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി പരീക്ഷ എഴുതുവാൻ തിയറിക്കും പ്രാക്ടിക്കലിനും 80% വീതം ഹാജർനില നിർബന്ധമാണ്. എന്നാൽ കോഴ്സ് പൂർത്തിയാക്കുവാൻ 100% ഹാജർ അത്യാവശ്യമാണ്.
- യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി പരീക്ഷ എഴുതുവാൻ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിക്ക് ഓരോ വിഷയത്തിനും തിയറിക്കും പ്രാക്ടിക്കലിനും 50 % വീതം ഇൻറേണൽ മാർക്ക് ആവശ്യമാണ്.
- ഇൻറേണൽ അസ്സെസ്സ്മെൻറ് നു വേണ്ടി വിദ്യാർത്ഥി ഓരോ അധ്യയന വർഷത്തിലും 3 സെഷണൽ പരീക്ഷകളും ഒരു മോഡൽ പരീക്ഷയും എഴുതേണ്ടത് അത്യാവശ്യമാണ്.ഏതെങ്കിലും കാരണത്താൽ പരീക്ഷ എഴുതാൻ പറ്റാതെ വന്നാൽ അടുത്ത ദിവസം ക്ലാസ് തുടങ്ങുന്നതിനു മുൻപ് വിദ്യാർത്ഥി പരീക്ഷ എഴുതേണ്ടതാണ്.ഓരോ സെഷണൽ പരീക്ഷ കഴിയുമ്പോഴും ക്ലാസ് കോഓർഡിനേറ്റർ രക്ഷകർത്താക്കളെ മീറ്റിങ്ങിനു വിളിക്കുകയും വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയുടെ പ്രോഗ്രസ്സ് റിപ്പോർട്ട് അവർ ഒപ്പിട്ടു തരേണ്ടതുമാണ് .
- ഓരോ അധ്യയന വർഷത്തിൻറെയും തുടക്കത്തിൽ നിശ്ചിത തീയതിക്കുള്ളിൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളുടെ ഫീസ് രക്ഷകർത്താക്കൾ അടച്ചിരിക്കണം.ഇതിൽ കാലതാമസം വരുന്നത് സ്വീകാര്യമല്ല.
- കോളേജിൽ എല്ലാ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളും പരസ്പര ബന്ധം നിലനിർത്താനും ക്യാമ്പസ്സിൽ അച്ചടക്കമുള്ള അന്തരീക്ഷം നിലനിർത്താനും സഹകരിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
- കോളേജിൽ ക്ലാസ് റൂം , ലൈബ്രറി , ലബോറട്ടറികൾ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ അച്ചടക്കവും മര്യാദയും പാലിക്കേണ്ടത് അത്യാവശ്യമാണ്.
- കോളേജ്,ഹോസ്റ്റൽ ,ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽ – ആയി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുള്ള എല്ലാവിധ ഉപകരണങ്ങളും സാധന സമഗ്രഹികളും കേടുവരുത്താതെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്ന കാര്യത്തിൽ എല്ലാ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളും സഹകരിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്. ഭിത്തിയിലും മേശകളിലും എഴുതുന്നതും ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ കേടുവരുത്തുന്നതും ശിക്ഷാർഹമാണ്.
- വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ അധ്യാപകരോടും മറ്റു ജീവനക്കാരോടും ബഹുമാനത്തോടും മര്യാദയോടും പെരുമാറേണ്ടതാണ്.
- വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ അവരുടെ എല്ലാ പ്രശ്നങ്ങളും ക്ലാസ് കോഓർഡിനേറ്ററിനോട് ചർച്ച ചെയ്യേണ്ടതും പരിഹാരം കണ്ടെത്തേണ്ടതുമാണ്.ആവശ്യമെങ്കിൽ പ്രിൻസിപ്പാളിൻറെ ശ്രദ്ധയിൽ പെടുത്തേണ്ടതാണ്.
- വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിലെ രോഗികളിൽ നിന്നോ അവരുടെ ബന്ധുക്കളിൽ നിന്നോ യാതൊരു തരത്തിലുമുള്ള സമ്മാനങ്ങളോ വസ്തുക്കളോ സ്വീകരിക്കാൻ അനുമതി ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുന്നതല്ല.
- ഓരോ അധ്യയന വർഷവും വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് കോളേജ് അനുവദിക്കുന്ന അവധികൾ എടുക്കാവുന്നതാണ്.
- അധ്യയന ദിവസ്സങ്ങളിൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥി എടുക്കുന്ന അവധികളിൽ ഓരോ വിഷയത്തിലും കുറയുന്ന ഹാജർനില കോഴ്സ് പൂർത്തിയാകുന്നതിനു മുൻപ് അതാതു വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ ക്രമപ്പെടുത്തേണ്ടതാണ്.
- അനധികൃതമായി എടുക്കുന്ന അവധികൾ മൂലം കുറയുന്ന ഹാജർനിലയുടെ ഉത്തരവാദിത്വം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്കും രക്ഷകർത്താക്കൾക്കുമായിരിക്കും.
- അസുഖം മൂലം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്കു വരാൻ പറ്റാതെ വന്നാൽ ഈ വിവരം രക്ഷകർത്താക്കൾ ക്ലാസ് കോർഡിനേറ്ററിനെയും പ്രിൻസിപ്പാളിനേയും അറിയിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.ഇങ്ങനെ 2 ദിവസത്തിൽ കൂടുതൽ വരാതിരുന്നാൽ മെഡിക്കൽ സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് ഹാജരാക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
- വിദ്യാർത്ഥിക്ക് കോളേജിൽ നിന്നോ ക്ലിനിക്കിൽ നിന്നോ അടിയന്തിരമായി പോകേണ്ടി വന്നാൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥി ക്ലാസ് കോർഡിനേറ്ററിൽ നിന്നും അനുമതി വാങ്ങേണ്ടതാണ്,കൂടാതെ രക്ഷകർത്താക്കൾ ഈ വിവരം കാണിച്ചു ക്ലാസ് കോർഡിനേറ്റർക്ക് കത്ത് സമർപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
- ഓരോ അധ്യയന വർഷത്തിലും യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി പരീക്ഷ തുടങ്ങുന്നതിനു മുൻപ് വിദ്യാർത്ഥി കോളജിലേയും ഹോസ്റ്റലിലെയും എല്ലാ കുടിശ്ശികകളും അടച്ചു തീർക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.കോഴ്സ് പൂർത്തിയാകുമ്പോൾ കോളേജിലെ എല്ലാ വകുപ്പുകളിൽ നിന്നും കുടിശ്ശിക ഇല്ല എന്നു കാണിക്കുന്ന സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റ് ഹാജരാക്കേണ്ടതാണ് എന്നാൽ മാത്രമേ ഒറിജിനൽ സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റുകൾ തിരികെ കിട്ടുകയുള്ളു.
- കോളേജിലെ ഓരോ വിദ്യാർത്ഥിയും ഓരോ ലബോറട്ടറിയിലും ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ ഉപകരണങ്ങളും ഉത്തരവാദിത്വത്തോടെയും ശ്രദ്ധയോടും കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യേണ്ടതാണ്.ഏതെങ്കിലും ഉപകരണത്തിന് കേടുപാടുകൾ വരുത്തിയാൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ ഉപകരണങ്ങൾ പകരം വയ്കേണ്ടതാണ്.കോളേജിനും ഹോസ്പിറ്റലിനും എന്തെങ്കിലും നഷ്ടം വരുത്തുന്ന പക്ഷം വിദ്യാർത്ഥിക്ക് നേരെ അച്ചടക്ക നടപടി എടുക്കുന്നതായിരിക്കും.
- പ്രിൻസിപ്പാളിൻറെ അനുമതിയില്ലാതെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് കോളേജിനുള്ളിൽ യാതൊരു വിധ നോട്ടീസുകളും പതിക്കുവാൻ അനുവാദമില്ല.
- വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെ ബാഹ്യ അധികാരികളുമായി നേരിട്ട് ആശയവിനിമയം നടത്തുവാൻ അനുവദിക്കുന്നതല്ല. അത്തരം ആശയവിനിമയങ്ങൾ പ്രിൻസിപ്പാളിൻറെ ഓഫീസിലൂടെ സമർപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.ഈ നിയമം ലംഘിക്കുന്ന ഏതൊരു വിദ്യാർത്ഥിക്കും അച്ചടക്ക നടപടി സ്വീകരിക്കാൻ ബാധ്യതയുണ്ട്.
- ഒരു വിദ്യാർത്ഥി അല്ലെങ്കിൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥി സംഘം കോളേജിലും ക്ലാസ്സ് റൂമുകളിലും എന്തെങ്കിലും തരത്തിലുള്ള സംഘർഷം സൃഷ്ടിച്ചാൽ അത്തരം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്കെതിരെ തക്കതായ അച്ചടക്ക നടപടികൾ എടുക്കുന്നതാണ്.അതായത് വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളുടെ തെറ്റ് അനുസരിച്ചു ചിലപ്പോൾ വിദ്യാർത്ഥി കോളേജിൽ നിന്നും പുറത്താക്കപ്പെടുകയോ നിയമ നടപടികൾക്ക് വിധേയനാകുകയോ ചെയ്യുന്നതാണ്.അത്തരം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെ യാതൊരു കാരണവശാലും തിരിച്ചു കോളേജിനുള്ളിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കുന്നതല്ല.
- കോളേജിലോ ക്ലിനിക്കുകളിലോ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ ഏതെങ്കിലും തരത്തിലുള്ള ലഹരിവസ്തുക്കൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന പക്ഷം അത്തരം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെ കോളേജിൽ നിന്നും പുറത്താക്കുന്നതാണ്.
- കോളേജ് , ഹോസ്റ്റൽ , ഹോസ്പിറ്റൽ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ ആയുധങ്ങളോ മറ്റു സ്ഫോടക വസ്തുക്കളോ കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്ന പക്ഷം അത്തരം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ കോളേജിൽ നിന്നും പുറത്താക്കപ്പെടുന്നതാണ്
- കോഴ്സ് കാലയളവിൽ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിൽ പങ്കാളിയാകുന്നത് അച്ചടക്ക ലംഘനമായിരിക്കും.
- കോളേജിലും ഹോസ്പിറ്റലുകളിലും വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ വൃത്തിയുള്ള യൂണിഫോം ധരിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്. അല്ലാത്തപക്ഷം രോഗികളെ നോക്കുവാൻ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെ അനുവദിക്കുന്നതല്ല. വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ അധ്യയന സമയങ്ങളിൽ ആഭരണങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത് അനുവദനീയമല്ല.കൂടാതെ ലബോറട്ടറികളിൽ എല്ലാ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളും യൂണിഫോമിന് പുറമെ വെള്ള കോട്ട് ധരിക്കേണ്ടതാണ് .
- പോസ്റ്റിംഗ് നടക്കുന്ന സമയങ്ങളിലും കോളേജിലും വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ അവരുടെ തിരിച്ചറിയൽ കാർഡുകൾ നിർബന്ധമായും ധരിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്. എപ്പോഴെങ്കിലും വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് കോളേജ് അല്ലെങ്കിൽ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി തിരിച്ചറിയൽ കാർഡ് നഷ്ടമായാൽ ഈ വിവരം എത്രയും പെട്ടെന്ന് ക്ലാസ്സ് കോർഡിനേറ്ററിനെയോ പ്രിൻസിപ്പാളിനേയോ അറിയിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
- വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളുടെ നഴ്സസ് അസോസിയേഷനിൽ എല്ലാ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളും നിർബന്ധമായും അംഗമായിരിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.

STUDENT NURSE’S HOSTEL: RULES & REGULATIONS
All students living in hostel should follow the following rules and regulations strictly.
General Rules:
- Student hostel is the home away home for the students and it is the responsibility of all the members to live comfortably cordially and safely.
- All members should respect each other and maintain healthy relationship.
- Writing on the walls and furniture, nailing and pasting on the walls and damaging the furnishing are strictly prohibited. Any damage to the room or furniture should be reported to the Warden. Penalty has to be paid for any damage caused by negligence.
- Fans and lights must be put off when not needed and while leaving the room.
- The rooms will be inspected frequently by the Warden for cleanliness and orderliness. Principal will make a surprise visit to the hostel rooms as and when necessary.
- Water should not be wasted and use as necessary.
- Personal belongings (tooth brush, soap. etc) are to be taken back to the rooms after the use from the toilets/bathrooms.
- Do not overcrowd the rooms with extra luggage.
- All are expected to be on time for the roll call taken by the warden on the specified time every day.
- A daily report about the student’s performance, behavior, discipline etc. will be given by the warden to the Principal.
- The students are not allowed to stay back in the rooms during the class hours or clinical hours without the permission of the Principal.
- Maintain etiquette and cordial relationship with other students, faculty members and the hostel authorities.
- Any complaints can be written in the complaint register, which is kept in the mess and will be seen by the warden and take appropriate measures. In addition a complaint box is kept in the mess hall which will be opened every month by the principal and take remedial actions by the principal.
- Students are permitted to leave the hostel on second Saturdays. On Friday, after the class the parents can take the ward from the hostel and leave the ward in hostel on Sunday before 6pm.
- Every students must be return back to the hostel before 6pm
Hygiene:
- The students are expected to keep the rooms neat and tidy.
- The students should cooperate in keeping the toilets and bathrooms clean and conducive for healthy living.
- The washed clothes should be removed soon after it is dried in order to avoid inconvenience to other students.
Disposal of waste materials:
- Waste materials should not be thrown on the floor/outside the rooms/or behind the doors.
- Food particles should not be put into the washbasin; it must be disposed in respective dustbin.
- Do not throw shampoo covers; soap covers, sanitary pads etc. in the toilet or closets it should be disposed in the dustbin.
- After hair-wash remove the fallen hairs from the bathroom and put it in the dustbin.
Study Timing:
- All students are expected to follow the schedule for study timing strictly and maintain silence.
- Study timing will be from 8 pm to 11 pm except on Sundays.
- No students are permitted to stay in their rooms during the study hours.
- Nobody is allowed to leave after entering the study hall without permission.
Mess Rules:
- The students are expected to have food only in the dining hall.
- All students should observe the meal timings of the mess as follows:

- Food should not be wasted either at hostel or at college.
- No students are allowed to bring the food items to the rooms
- All students must enter the name and signature in the mess attendance register kept in the mess hall
Hotel Fee:
- The hostel establishment fee (rent) should be paid along with the college fee in the beginning of the academic year (September in every year).
- The mess fee should be paid before 10th of every month.
Visiting and out pass
- Visiting Time is Every Sunday from 9 am to 4 pm. The students must enter the details of visitors in visitors register.
- Parents and authorized visitor are permitted to visit the students.
- The students can do outing3-4hours on Sundays in group (two or more) if the parents give a letter of permission but the hostel/college authority cannot hold the safety of students during outing hours
- The students must enter the name ,purpose and
Safety & Security:
- The students are responsible for keeping all the furniture safe and in good condition.
- Use of heater and other electric appliances in the rooms are not allowed.
- The students are expected to report any sickness to the warden at the first sign of illness.
- No students are allowed to take self medication in case of any sickness.
- Mobile phones (if any) should be deposited with Warden on arrival and will be returned while leaving the hostel.
- No student should leave the hostel without obtaining written permission from the Principal.
Sickness:
Ragging:
- Ragging is strictly prohibited in the hostel and its premises. Strict action will be taken against those who indulge in any types of ragging activities.
Recreation:
- Television with cable connection is available in the hostel, the students can utilize this during Sundays and holidays.
Violation of any rules may call for action by the authority
